Globus festival is coming to the campus for the first time this weekend. Because of corona it now consists of a large terrace with music, drinks and snacks, rather than a ‘normal’ festival.

On Saturday, 3 July and Sunday, 4 July, there are three time slots for visitors. One hundred visitors are welcome per time slot. All the proceeds from the festival, which is organised by students, will go towards buying tropical rainforest.

Corona proof

Previously, Climate Studies-student Marijn van der Meer (22) explained the setup of the festival to Resource. ‘It must be corona proof, so, instead of a standard festival, Globus will be a large terrace with live music and food and drinks. The guests will be seated in pairs at tables, and the food and drinks are served at the table. To minimise movements, the guests can order through a QR-code or by phone. Moreover, the routing is clearly marked.’

The Globus festival was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to the corona pandemic. Now it will finally take place, albeit in a slightly different form. ‘And next year, a complete festival’, says Van der Meer.
