Anyone walking past the grass field between Forum, Orion and Atlas this week couldn’t miss it: the construction of the festival area for the AID. A little further on, the AID campsite is also being set up again.
On Friday 15 August, the annual introduction week AID will start again. Around 1,700 students will come to Wageningen to get to know the city, the university and the associations. It looks set to be a great AID for lovers of summer weather, with expected temperatures between 23 and 30 degrees and no rain.
In many ways, this AID will resemble previous editions. However, there are also some new plans. On Saturday, there will be a grand dinner on the Grebbedijk at Dinner on the Dike XL. Around 3,000 participants are expected to attend: AID participants and other people from Wageningen and the surrounding area.
Another special feature is that this will be the last edition in which ‘Sjef AID’ will be involved. As project leader, Sjef Moling saw the AID grow from 600 to 2,500 participants and the crew from 30 to 220 volunteers. He is passing the baton to Maartje Kragtwijk, who is already in charge of this edition.
Student editor Yijun Zhu went to the campus this week to capture the construction of the festival site with his camera.
