VeSte increases its seats from seven to eight, S&I retains its three seats, and CFS yields one seat, retaining a single seat on the council.

A total of 387 students voted for the Christian Student Faction (CFS); 1,214 votes were cast in favour of Sustainability & Integration (S&I); and a total of 2,789 students cast their ballot for Verenigde Studenten (United Students, VeSte). The results were announced by the dean of education, Arnold Bregt, on the stage in Forum.

The turnout was much higher than last year when only 27.6 per cent of the students voted. This year, 35.5 per cent cast their vote. A turnout similar to those previous to the covid pandemic.

All together

VeSte top candidate Maartje van den Bosch is ‘delighted’ with the extra seat. ‘We had eight serious candidates, and I am just thrilled that we can all take a seat on the council. I am looking forward to getting started!’ S&I top candidate Muskan Mathur is also happy with the outcome. ‘I look forward to getting started on all the suggestions and ideas that students have put forward. If you have suggestions, mail them to s.i@wur.nl.’

CSF has mixed feelings, says the current council member Joël Kampen. ‘On one hand, we are disappointed at having lost a seat. It is always nice to have someone to discuss with in the council. But I am confident that Linda will do great.’ Top candidate Linda Juma was in Rotterdam for her internship when the results were made public.
