The three are all members of the board, says chair Joris Bergman. ‘By tradition, the chair, the equipment officer and the competitions officer take part in the Ringvaart, which is a 100-kilometre race in Delft. The Ringvaart was cancelled because of the coronavirus, but we wanted to row the distance anyway. That was possible thanks to the easing of restrictions on sport.’

The Argonauts set off on Sunday 9 August. ‘We rowed the original Ringvaart route. Because of the heat and the large number of pleasure boats, we had to row the last lap on Monday. We arrived in Delft on 10 August in the afternoon.’

The rowers raised money for the food bank with their initiative. ‘We have been shocked by the news in the past few months about queues and shortages at the food bank,’ they wrote on their campaign web page. They have raised 1885 euros so far, but you can still donate until the end of the day on Sunday.’
