Resource and Teacher of the Year Award jury member Teun Fiers surprised Aarts in her room at Leeuwenborch. ‘I am really happy with it’, she reacted enthusiastically. ‘This is really great.’

Last year Aarts won the Teacher of the Year Award, with which she was the first female teacher who won the prize. She is really excited about her nomination. ‘If as a teacher you are nominated or win the award repeatedly, that says something about how stable your quality is. Many teachers are insecure and find teaching quite nerve-racking. You like teaching and you give your all every day. Then a prize like this says you are doing a good job.’

According to the jury of the Teacher of the Year Award Noëlle Aarts is an expert at ‘connecting’. ‘She wants to connect her students with their environment and their teachers. She has clear ideas about teaching and combines that with a strong focus on her students’ personal development.’

With the nomination of Noëlle Aarts the short list of nominees is complete. Earlier Resource already announced that André van Lammeren, Ute Sass-Klaassen, Roel Dijksma and Maria Forlenza are in the race to becoming best teacher of 2016. The winner will be announced on April 21st during the presentation of the education bonuses. The Teacher of the Year Award is an initiative of the University Fund Wageningen.
