Thymos directors Romy Willemsen and Martijn van der Vis placed the stairs in the corner of the new hall with help of strong cables. The sports hall will be multifunctional, so that exams and cultural activities can also take place. The building will be an extension of the existing building. Because of this, three tennis fields and part of the parking lot have disappeared.

The expansion of the sports centre De Bongerd was supposed to be finished at the end of this year, but the construction has already had several delays. First the noise permit was amiss, later the diversion of the gas pipeline caused delay. When subsequently the new gas pipe was accidently hit during excavation, this also caused some extra delay. The completion is now planned for February, according to Henri ten Klooster, director of sports centre De Bongerd. ‘Despite all the preparations, we constantly encounter new surprises.’
