Plant-e is one of the most innovative technology companies in the world, according to a statement made by the World Economic Forum last year. The company succeeded in tapping energy from plant roots and converting that to electricity. They are currently laying what is called a tube system in the boggy part of the grassland near the entrance of the campus, which was previously dug up for an ecosystem with bluegrass. By doing this, Plant-e wants to use the wetlands as a power plant.

The company Plant-e, a spin-off of WUR, is currently building an installation near the entrance of the Wageningen campus. The small knowledge company will illuminate an information panel using power generated from plants.
